Predicting the end of the world has almost certainly been going on since man began thinking, whenever that was. It is warned about in Revelations in the Bible, so that must be about 2,000 years ago.

Nonetheless, it is the predictions of Nostradamus that are the most well-known and most abundant. Some biographical accounts of Nostradamus’ life assert that he was terrified of being persecuted for heresy by the Inquisition, although neither prophecy nor astrology fell under their jurisdiction. He would have been in danger only if he had used magic to support his prophesies.

In fact, his contact with the Church as a prophet and a healer were always excellent. His brief imprisonment at Marignane in late 1561 came about purely because he had published his 1562 Almanac without the previous consent of a bishop, contravening a recent royal decree.

Here then are a couple of the prophesies of the ending of the world and the annihilation of mankind.

December 21st, 22nd or 23rd 2012 are all possible dates for the ending of the world according to the ancient Mayan Calendar.

2012 has been determined by some to be the first possible date for the passing by of Planet X (Wormwood) and the demise of the world, as mentioned in Revelations, although this is hotly debated by Biblical experts and astronomers alike.

2012 is also the year given by Nostradamus as the likely end. He gave three possible years for the apocalypse: 1994 and 1998 so this is his last opportunity to be correct.

2010 is the year so says the Hermetic Order of Golden Dawn.

In 1143 St Malachy prophesied that there would be only another 112 more Popes. The current Pope Benedict is the 111th. He also predicted that the final Pope would be known as Peter of Rome, so we will have to wait and see for this one.

2017 is the year specified to the Sword of God Brotherhood by the Angel Gabriel.

November 13th 2026 is the date according to a 1960 copy of ‘Science’ magazine. The writer said that this would be the day that the planet’s human population would ‘reach infinity’.

2033 is held by many to be the 2000th anniversary of the crucifixion of Christ and a possible date for his return, which would signal the end of our Earthly period.

4,500,000,000 AD is the approximate date at which the Sun is due to explode and in so doing, destroy the inner solar system including our Planet. Nobody knows, but unless we destroy ourselves first, this latter date is probably the most accurate and scientific date for the destruction of the planet.

Christian Holy Days

Christmas – is the celebration of Jesus’ birthday. Although the precise date of his birth is unknown, December 25th was probably selected because it coincided with a pagan mid-winter festival. The ‘Twelve Days Of Christmas” mark the days between Christmas and Epiphany (January 6th), which was the day of the wise men’s visit.

Easter – is the most important day in the Christian calendar, because it celebrates Christ’s Resurrection, which gave / gives Christians the hope of salvation and eternal life. Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal (Spring) equinox, which is on 21st March.

Shrove Tuesday – (Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday) was originally a day of penance, but is now marked by merrymaking. It is the day before the beginning of Lent.

Ash Wednesday – is derived from the marking of a cross on the forehead of believers with the ashes from the burnt palms used on Palm Sunday.

Lent – 40 days of atonement and fasting

Palm Sunday – the Sunday before Easter, celebrates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, where palms were strewn on the road before him.

Maundy (Holy) Thursday – the day of the Last supper.

Good Friday – is the day of Christ’s crucifixion.

Holy Saturday – is the day before the Resurrection.

The Annunciation – March 25th is celebrated by Catholics as the day that Archangel Gabriel told Mary about her impending pregnancy.

Trinity Sunday – is celebrated by some denominations in honour of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. It was confirmed part of the holy calendar in 1334 by Pope John XII.

Corpus Christi – Catholics remembers the presence of the body of Christ on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday.

All Saints Day – this mainly Catholic remembrance is on November 1 and honours all Christian saints.

Advent – a religious season that begins on the Sunday nearest to November 30 and lasts until Christmas Day. It celebrates the birth of Jesus and anticipates his Second Coming. It was once a period of fasting, but now no longer.

Holy Days Of Obligation – are feast days in the Catholic calendar marked by attendance at mass and the avoidance of unnecessary work. There are six in the USA: Solemnity of Mary – January 1: Christ’s circumcision, ie his first shedding of blood Ascension – 40 days after Easter Assumption – August 15: Mary is accepted into Heaven All Saints’ Day – November 1 Mary’s Immaculate Conception – December 8 Christmas Day – December 25.

Ever Thought About Astronomy

Astronomy and space is all about lust for learning. Did you also know that astronomy is also one of the oldest subject’s of study for man kind? In fact, astronomy is one of the earliest sciences that humanity has ever pursued. The study of our solar system and all the other stars is not a new science, but it is a science non the less. This is a science for everyone. Strangely, though everyone you talk to can tell you there zodiac sign, but they know very little about astronomy.

Astronomy has become a huge night time hobby. It is also something where international boarders blur.. Astronomy is more of an exact science than any other science that people study. While the study of astronomy is an observational science, it still requires the observer to record precise locations and calculations of the stars, particularly of positions of celestial objects. The study of the sky’s is truly bigger than anything else.

The use of physics and astrophysics is extremely important when researching the stars. So is there a difference between astronomy and astrophysics? The study of astrophysics is more the study of how the stars and universe formed to begin with. Astronomy is more a matter of making observations.

The telescope is undoubtedly a very important investigative tool in astronomy. Galileo was the first person to use the telescope to aid him in the study of the stars. Purchasing a telescope is something that most people who get interested in astronomy need to do.

If you want to buy you a telescope, but it all looks confusing to you, be sure to do some analysis. Buying a telescope is almost the same as buying a car or clothing, no two people are looking for the same thing due to the fact that all people have different tastes. While you will want to get the best telescope you can find you must understand that they can cost anywhere from a hundred to a few thousand dollars so make an affordable choice for your needs.

Telescope parts and accessories can be a very useful addition to your astronomy experience. If you are just going to be using your telescope for simple observations and you are not going to be taking it too seriously, you can get away with a one or two hundred dollar telescope.

You might even ask friends if any of them have a telescope for sale. But the aim is to take advantage of the latest developments in telescope technology to make the next giant leap forward in observing. Once you get your new telescope you will find that you will use it often, as most people use there telescopes quite often for star parties or just for gazing at the stars.

You will find that the passer’s by will also be curious. The study of the sky’s is the key to unlocking the secrets of the stars. As mentioned above, it may be a science, but it also is an outdoor nature hobby. This is one of the coolest hobbies around, and you will find that many other people are also interested in astronomy. Astronomy is a wonderful field of science for the family to study. Astronomy is all about curiosity, and fulfilling that curiosity.

Inducing A Conscious Out Of Body Experience

The astral dimension can be roughly summed up as an immaterial parallel plane existing alongside the one we are familiar with and which offers seemingly limitless possibilities of experience. Think of it as a very lucid dream intersecting with our physical world.

When astral projecting, many if not most people feel as though they are a point or sphere of energy that hover in whatever environment they find themselves in. They are not subject to physical laws such as gravity and everything around them appears vividly real and alive. This applies to time as well which is experienced in an altered manner.

Although there are common denominators to all out of body experiences, there are several variables that make each experience unique. Most people report that their first few oobes changed their perception of life and of themselves.

Begin your out of body exploration by selecting a time and place where no one will disturb you. Contrarily to what many think, trying to perform astral projection at night is not the most auspicious time – early morning is. This is because the chemical balance in the brain at this time is conducive to the oobe state.

When you are ready to start, you must allow your mind and body to relax deeply without diminishing your psychological alertness and without going to sleep. You will come to what is called the ‘theta’ brainwave mode which means the brain’s frequency is slow and calm. It is similar to a meditative state. How long it takes to get to this point will vary from person to person and may require extensive practice.

There are different ways to help you stay concentrated as you work through any mental chatter. Lighting a candle and focusing on the flame or choosing whatever object to channel your attention can do the trick. During this time, begin to breathe deeply but effortlessly. Visualize and imagine what an astral voyage may be like. Do this lightly.

As you get nearer to the theta state, your body will feel heavier and you should even experience a state of paralysis – don’t freak out. This is normal. It simply means that your mind believes your body to be asleep.

You will then be ready to act out the exit technique to separate the energetic body from the physical one. One such technique involves visualizing a rope hanging from the ceiling and then without moving your physical body at all, reach mentally or energetically for the rope. As you grab it, pull yourself up. It is crucial you do not make any physical movement as you attempt to do this. If you feel you are not able to move your energetic body, relax some more and wait a little bit.

The exit from the physical body will most likely occur in a flash though some people have described occurrences where the separation was slow and did not go through entirely. In any case, you want to perform your exit technique at the right time (theta state) – otherwise you will attempt to move out of your body too soon and may only end up moving your physical body. In these cases, the trance state is broken and you must begin again.

Calendars And How To Understand Them

The calendar is such a commonplace, everyday thing, but how much do you actually know about the operation of it. Why is it like that?

A DAY: The Earth rotates at a reasonably fixed pace about the imaginary line running between the North and South Poles named the Earth’s Axis. The time it takes to spin once is called a ‘rotation’ and this takes just under twenty-four hours. Nevertheless, because the Earth is constantly traveling around the Sun, the exact time from noon one day to noon the next is 3 minutes 56 seconds longer and this makes a day almost exactly twenty-four hours in length.

The actual time from noon to noon differs depending where the Earth is on its celestial course around the Sun, but if you average the days in a year out, it comes to precisely twenty-four hours.

A YEAR: All nine planets in our solar system travel around the Sun in almost perfectly circular routes called orbits. Each trip around the Sun is called a revolution and all the planets revolve around the Sun in the same direction. The direction the Earth takes can be verified by noting its location against the background stars.

Given that you cannot see the Sun and the stars at the same time, it is necessary to note the position of the Sun in the morning and the see which stars come out there in the night. You will see that the Sun appears to pass through the twelve constellations of the zodiac during a year.

Earth’s trip around the Sun, which seems like the Sun traveling through the zodiac takes about 365.25 days. This is different from year to year, so astronomers add or delete a second in some years to keep their time accurate with the Earth’s motion.

THE SEASONS: The seasons indicate the variation in the pattern of daylight over the course of a year. Because the Earth is tilted off centre, different parts of it get different amounts of sunlight on different stages of its path around the Sun, a path that we call a year. So, between about the 21st September and late March, the Earth’s Northern Hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun, which creates Autumn and Winter, giving less than twelve hours of daylight per day.

From April to the 20th September, the Northern Hemisphere receives more than twelve hours of daylight a day, producing Spring and Summer. The exact opposite occurs in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Equinoxes take place at the points in the year when there is exactly twelve hours of sunlight and darkness in the day. So, the vernal or Spring equinox is on or around the 21st March and the autumnal equinox is on or around the 21st September. Summer officially commences on the day with the greatest amount of daylight, the 21st June or summer solstice.

The winter solstice occurs on the shortest day, the 21st December. ‘Solstice’ is a combination of two words meaning ’sun standing still’ and the days are so named because they are the days when the apparent movement of the Sun reaches its extremes and reverses direction again.

Understanding The Chinese Lunar Calendar

Previous to their implementation of the Western solar calendar system, the Chinese almost exclusively followed their own lunar calendar for determining the times of planting and harvesting and festival holidays. Although people in China today use the Western calendar for almost all business, governmental and practical matters of daily life, the old system still serves as the basis for working out numerous recurring holidays. This coexistence of two calendar systems has long been accepted by the people of China.

However, this does not only happen in China, it also occurs in most other Eastern countries, like Thailand, and most Arabic countries.

A lunar month is determined by measuring the period of time needed for the moon to finish its full cycle of 29 and a half days, a standard that makes the lunar year a full eleven days shorter than its solar counterpart. This difference is made up every 19 years by the addition of seven lunar months.

The 12 lunar months are further divided into 24 solar divisions characterized by the four seasons and times of heat and cold, all of which bear a close relationship to the annual cycle of agricultural work.

The Chinese calendar – very much like the Hebrew calendar- is a combination of the solar and lunar calendars in that it strives to have its years concur with the tropical year and its months coincide with the synodic months. It is not surprising that a few similarities exist between the Chinese and the Hebrew calendar.

For instance, an ordinary year has 12 months, a leap year has 13 months. An ordinary year has 353, 354, or 355 days, a leap year has 383, 384, or 385 days. When determining what a Chinese year will be like, one needs to make a couple of astronomical calculations.

First of all, you have to determine the dates for the new moons. In these cases, a new Moon is the completely black Moon (that is to say, when the Moon is in conjunction with the Sun), not the first visible crescent, as is used by the Islamic and Hebrew calendars. The date of a new moon is then the first day of a new month.

The reason why the majority of countries which had their own calendars had to drop them in favour of the Western, Julian calendar that we use today, is business. First the British and then the Americans ran international business and they used the Gregorian calendar. Anyone who sought to work with them had to follow suit. This is why national policy often differs from local custom in Third World countries.

The government desires to trade on the International markets, but the ordinary family in the country can not. So, the government adopted the Gregorian calendar but the people only pay lip service to it. I live in Thailand and people here do not even use the 24 hour day divided into two halves. Their day has four sections of six hours each and the first part starts at 6AM, not midnight. Therefore, they have four 4 o’clocks a day, for example but no 7 o’clocks. They are also 543 years ahead of us, although this is more common, for instance in Muslim countries.

Mayan Calendar Predicts 2012 Doomsday

Are you a superstitious person? One who always throws salt over their shoulder, or who will not step on a crack? Well you most likely know all about those 2012 doomsday prophecies already. But are they real; is something going to happen when December 21, 2012 comes around? Or is it all some hype people have made up?

Depending on who you ask, there are many things that may actually happen at this time. However, some people claim that nothing was ever stated in Mayan history about doomsday or anything else in 2012. This almost reminds you of all the worries that went on at the beginning of 2000, and the Y2K computer problem.

However, with most theories that are so impacting on life, it can be built up. Made to seem worse by people who add on to the tales and spread the story for everyone to see. Yes it’s freedom of speech and all that, but programs do seem to add to the theories of what may happen. And they are very popular; they started back in 2006 with the History Channel.

Some of these prophecies and doomsday ideas included storms that would hit the world with devastating force, as well as disruptions from volcanoes, earthquakes and even solar flares. They also include reference to the magnetic poles of the Earth switching positions.

If you’ve ever studied any Mayan history, you know that much is not understood. And many things will most likely never be understood. The predictions of the end in 2012 may actually be one of those, something that could never be proven. We will just have to wait to find out.

It is interesting that those people who make up present day Mayan society really hold nothing in significance to the year 2012. They don’t really use the long count calendar anymore either. Perhaps it was something that was even created or thought up by someone who discovered part of the Mayan past.

No matter how you view it, in the long run you need to think about this. Remember what happened at the end of 1999 when everyone thought computers would stop working. Did they?

Are you prepared for doomsday in 2012? Are the ancient predictions real? Find out all the predictions and how to prepare for the 2012 end of the world. A doomsday that is foretold in the Mayan calendar and ancient Chinese oracles, all pointing to one date, a date foretold as the end of the world. Don’t start praying until you read this eye-opening new report, 2012 Predictions.

Getting Started In Astronomy

Astronomy and space is all about lust for learning. Astronomy is also one of the oldest things that have been studied by man? To be straight about it, astronomy is one of the oldest sciences that has ever been studied. The study of our solar system and all the other stars is not a new science, but it is a science non the less. A science for humanity. And, astronomy is a field about which most of the world knows very little.

Astronomy is really an outdoor nature hobby. It is also something where international boarders blur.. As astronomy is a science, as anyone who studies the universe can verify. While the study of astronomy is an observational science, it still requires the observer to record precise locations and calculations of the stars, particularly of positions of celestial objects. The study of astronomy is defiantly bigger than all of us together.

Most of modern astronomical research involves a substantial amount of physics and can be considered astrophysics. So is there a difference between astronomy and astrophysics? Astrophysics is more the study of how and why stars form in the first place. Astronomy is more about the positioning of the planets in space.

The telescope is undoubtedly a very important investigative tool in astronomy. Galileo was the first person to use the telescope to aid him in the study of the stars. If you decide to start the study of astronomy, buying a telescope will be the first thing you will need to do.

There are also many different types of accessories that you can buy to complement your telescope, which can make things easier on you when trying to locate a specific star or constellation. If you’re just starting out, look for a quality, affordable telescope for beginning astronomy students and casual observers.

You might even ask friends if any of them have a telescope for sale. You also need to understand that if you acquire a older telescope the lens’s and technology will not be up to date with todays telescopes. Many people use the telescope regularly for star parties, astronomy workshops, and casual observing.

Public curiosity in astronomy is unlimited. Astronomy is our tool for unlocking the knowledge of the heavens. We said it before astronomy is not just a science, but it is also becoming a very popular hobby. But don’t worry, you’ll see that astronomy is more than just a branch of science, it’s cool too. Looking at the stars is also a great way to get the whole family together for some quality time, don’t forget that everyone is curious about astronomy and our universe.

Your daily horoscope is also created by the study of astronomy, without astronomy there would be no horoscopes.

The Creation v Evolution Issue: An Overview Of The Discussion On Both Sides

Certain questions have baffled man kind for a long time. Some have divided uneducated people and scholars alike, such as the creation against evolution fight. Since Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution became prevalent, there have been people arguing for and against the evolution of man kind. Fundamental Christians believe that evolution is nonsense. Evolutionists believe that the creationist view is nonsense. Let’s take a brief look at the beliefs on each side of this argument.

Creationists believe that the world was created by the Lord in six days, as is written in the book of Genesis. Many of the people who subscribe to this believe see no further need for proof. It is written in the Bible, and for them that settles it. Evolution, they claim, is faulty.

Evolutionists contend that man has evolved from simple to complex over time in accordance with the survival of the fittest idea. They use scientific research and theory to back their claims. For some, the Bible is considered myth that has finally been debunked by science. Others believe that the Biblical account is incomplete, and that science has allowed us to fill in the gaps.

It’s important to note that not every scientist or Christian falls in the same place on this discussion. There are strict atheist evolutionists who think the idea of a creator is ridiculous. There are evolutionists who are agnostic. There are Christian evolutionists, and there are Christian scientists and non-Christian scientists who do not support the theory of evolution.

This is a major issue in the minds of some scientists and Christians. Many opinions have been put forth about this topic, and a lot of argument has surrounded it. This issue can sometimes get so heated that the argument becomes more emotional than factual

Even great scholars do not always agree. The debate is likely to continue for a long time among spiritual and scientific circles.

The fact that the so-called creationism vs evolution discussion is still raging speaks volumes about our current society.
