There has been a lot of gradually building concern about the Mayans and will we die in 2012? This usually involves the Mayan calendar and the fact that it ends in 2012. Some people believe that the end of the world may occur at that time while others point out that there have been a number of other apocalyptic scenarios that have also been predicted over the years but which have never proven themselves out.

The Mayan calendar itself, especially when it concerns whether or not it is going to come to an end in 2012 presents a number of questions. A great many scholars and experts have looked at the calendar and almost everyone takes pains to point out that it really doesn’t come to an end. They cannot, however, eliminate incipient mass hysteria that defies logic for the sake of emotion.

Collectively, the phenomenon known as “2012″ can be given to a variety of proposals and beliefs that try to argue for some sort of transformative, cataclysmic or even apocalyptic event that will take place in that year, specifically on either December 21 or December 23, 2012. These are the two dates in which the calendar is supposed to come to some sort of an end in a technical sense.

These dates were determined from the studies of the Mayan Long Count Calendar, which is what this calendar is more formally known as. Many of these studies purport to show that the calendar began on a certain date and ends on a certain date, 5125 years from the beginning. However, the arguments for apocalypse tend to revolve around an accurate archeo-astronomy and mythological tales.

Additionally, many predictions for something occurring on December 21 or December 23, 2012 make use of certain numerological calculations and even prophecies made by extraterrestrial beings that are non-falsifiable, meaning that there is no way to prove them false because they do not exist on the plane of existence with which we, as humans, are familiar or which most likely does not even exist.

In the main, any Mayan scholar of professional integrity can make an extremely convincing argument that the calendar comes to some sort of an end in 2012 seem to be completely ridiculous, especially when actual Mayan history is represented truthfully. Modern day Mayans actually consider 2012 to be fairly irrelevant, and most historical Mayan sources are either contradictory or very scarce.

However, supporters of the theory that we will die in 2012 maintain that something such as a collision with a rogue planet or an alignment of our planet with a black hole is bound to occur. A typical cataclysmic event consists of our magnetic poles shifting. However, again, most such claims are based on pseudoscientific theory that violates just about every law of physics known in science.

Humans, as a species, tend to be attracted to apocalypse because it holds such a frightening allure, meaning as it does the extinction of our race. Throughout history, people have flocked to apocalyptic movements, none of which have ever actually experienced success. The proof of that is that we are still here, though most any movement manages to come up with an excuse for why the apocalypse did not occur that time.

The Mayan prophecies claims that the world will end in 2012. It’s been the subject of heated debates over decades and now people are wondering, Will We Die In 2012 ?” Learn more about this prediction and the Mayan calendar now.
