To most of us it seems like the Mormons have been around forever. They actually date back to the 1820s. In 1823 a young lad by the name of Joseph Smith sought Gods wisdom as to what church he should belong to. Some speculate that he went into the woods to do this while others claim that he did it from his bedroom. He states that the Angel Maroni summoned him and called him by name and stipulated to him that he had great works for God to do. He was directed to finding some golden plates where the instructions and historical episodes that had taken place centuries ago. Joseph claimed that the everlasting gospel was contained on these plates.

Joseph apparently was able to locate these plates through a vision. The plates were buried in a hill called Mora. The instructions also included that he was not to remove the plates nor was he to show them to anyone. The story goes that the next day Joseph was so exhausted from these visions that his father had to send him back home from work. During that time he collapsed. and apparently the Angel Maroni appeared to him again and repeated the message. Joseph told his father about these happenings.

Ironically Joseph’s father believed him and sent him to where he was to find the plates. Apparently Joseph found them as per instructions and buried them again for a period of four years. The Angel Maroni returned and instructed Joseph and every year he made a pilgrimage to this site. Then in 1827 Joseph came up with the plates but was forced to hide them because of those that wanted to sell them.

Apparently during this translation time other people did witness these plates as there are testimonies in the book of Mormon concerning this. After Joseph finished translating the gold plates then the book of Mormon came into being.

It is ironic that with Josephs three years of formal education that the book was very complex and articulate. Joseph claimed that it was the power of God that gave him the ability to be able to do this. According to the story Joseph would just concentrate and have a great deal of faith. Due to the difficulty of the translation it was said that Joseph would sit with the plates and verbally give the translation. His wife gives quite an account of this tim and states that Joseph was working on this book and how he would be able to return to where he left off with no problem. One would think that this would take many years to do but apparently the translation only talk a matter of three months and there were several scribes that would write as Joseph dictated.

I intend with the help of God to make this article the first in a series of writings that will detail my personal journey to walk with a divinely guided human being. I wish to speak of the benefits I have personally received as a student of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan.

My New Beginning

This particular Ayat(Verse) speaks of the historical transformation which Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) brought 1400 years ago. However, The Qur’an is a book and guide for all times up to the Day of Judgment. Therefore, the transformative powers of ALLAH’s words in the Qur’an are still able to transform individuals, societies and nations.

The man you see me striving to be today is not the man I was 15 years ago. I was once considered a lost, hopeless wayward man with no goals in life. However, by the greatness of God’s grace, I was able to transform my life by hearing the message of The Million Man March. My first step toward this greater journey was by the process of atonement.

I didn’t know, at the time, that I was just taking the first step towards a larger-lifelong journey with a servant of God as my personal guide. Through the years of my journey I have been able to make something better out of my life, but I still see the need for further improvements. My life is a small example that you can be down, but with God’s grace you can be raised up from ignorance. My life’s motto is what they say in the church: “God is not through with me yet.” I continue to work daily to improve myself and others who come in my path.

Since my journey began, I have made the following changes:

#1 I earned my GED after dropping out from high school.

#2 I entered college to achieve “higher education” .

#3 I developed a personal relationship with my Creator.

#4 I have become active in my community through mentor-ship, volunteering and sharing my story of redemption.

#5 I was able to become a Student in the Ministry, something I could have never foresaw in a million years, which allows me to touch many with a word which can do for them what it did for me.

There are many more accomplishment I have achieved which space won’t permit. I am thankful to ALLAH everyday for giving me a new lease on life and a chance to study and show myself approved.

The Samurai is the name of a warrior class of people that emerged many centuries ago in Japan. To understand the development of Samurai art we must first understand how this warrior class came into being. It was in the 12th century when Japan was suppressed in clashes between two powerful local clans known as the Taira and the Minamato. It was during this time that the Japanese system of rule known as Shogunate with the Shogun on top was formed.

The second powerful position in the Shogunate was Daimyo, which was much the same as the rank of Dukes in Europe. Samurai were the warriors of Daimyo. Usually each Samurai had a master and if he misses one because of the compelled suicide of his master, he was named Ronin.

The Samurai caste had many special advantages which was not allowed for the common people. They were licensed to carry two swords while the common people were restricted from carrying any. They were even allowed to decapitate any ordinary citizen who came to hurt them.

The Samurai tribe itself was categorized into three classes – the administrators who were known as housemen, soldiers who were allowed to fight on horse back named mounted Samurai and the foot soldiers.

Over the years the role of the Samurai changed as they now became independent farmers who were restricted to the citadels. They were also entitled to a certain percentage of the rice tax based on their ranks. The code of ethics followed by the Samurai class was known as Bushido which meant the way of the warrior. It was based around obedience towards their leader which was the daimyo.

A strange practice of committing suicide named Suppuku existed among them. They considered it as a honourable way of death and was performed at the battle field or outside the battle as a formal function. Eventually, the age of battles came to an end and the Samurai class dissolved in the mainstream of the Japanese life.

God promised to pour out the Holy Spirit on all flesh in the end time. In the era we are in, we closer and closer to that day and we see a lot of demonstrations of power and prophetic signs happening already. When people falsely believe that only perfect man are used by God with demonstration of power and authority, they either think too high of the man being used or totally reject all the prophetic ministers. The moment they see a flaw in the minister’s character or doctrine, they immediately conclude that the power did not come from God because God would never use a person like that. This is obviously not biblical because we see a lot of examples in the Bible when God uses weak men who are far from perfect. In the New Testament, we see the most anointed church of that time, the Corinthians, was also the most carnal church of that time according to Apostle Paul.

Spiritual gifts are given by the Holy Spirit freely according to His own will. No one can earn spiritual gifts with work or godliness. The gifts or any other demonstration of power on a person are not given as a badge or a sign that God approves the man’s spiritual maturity. No one can earn the gifts of the Holy Spirit by trying to consecrate himself. Everything is given by grace as free gift, just like salvation.

This does not mean that we could do whatever we want because no good work would gain us the power of the Holy Spirit. But rather, we must examine all the prophecies we hear, no matter if they came from a person with powerful prophetic track record or from a person who obviously has unsettled life issues. However, if a person is clearly in rebellion against God, we must not receive from him no matter how powerful he is.

The Lord can also choose to anoint you with spiritual gift. If that happens, praise Jesus’ good name and stay humble, because He alone is worthy of all praise. We are sinners and none of us is perfect. But the Lord can still use us mightily if we obey.

When a person is anointed, he was anointed for the common good of the church and not for his own good. The person must bear this in his mind in his ministry. The Holy Spirit gives us gifts so that we could be the gifts for others.

Basically the beliefs are broke down into several categories such as the Church of Jesus Christ, gospel and principles, family purpose ,and the life and nature of God. The Mormons believe that after the last apostle died that there was no authority left to lead the Church and that all of the doctrines that Jesus had taught were changed over the years and eventually this led into living in darkness.

Naturally everybody is entitled to their own opinions and their own beliefs. The same is applicable to the Mormons. If they so choose to follow the doctrine of Joseph Smith then they have that right. Christianity in its authority takes offense that the Church of Latter-Day Saints is standing on the basics of Christianity and yet have taken all those basics and misconstrued them into what they feel is the true gospel.
